Frequently Asked Questions

How long are sessions and how much does it cost?

  • Sessions are 50 minutes in length. My rate is set based on my years of training and experience. Please contact me for my current rate.

Do you take insurance?

  • I do not accept insurance. I am able to provide you with a monthly billing statement for you to submit with your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. It should be noted that most insurance companies do not cover couples counseling. In order for insurance companies to cover counseling services, a mental health diagnosis is required. Many individuals and couples prefer to keep this private information for themselves and choose to self-pay.

How long does counseling last?

  • This is different for everyone and really does depend on a variety of factors. For individual counseling, premarital counseling, or couples seeking guidance early on in their relationship, the average length of therapy is 12 sessions. When there is infidelity or other individual or relationship traumas, therapy is typically needed for a longer period of time.

What if my partner won’t come?

  • While couples counseling is most effective with both partners present, it is still possible to do some relationship work with one partner absent. This type of individual counseling can still focus on identifying patterns in the relationship and specifically processing underlying emotions for the present partner.

What are your hours?

  • Hours are by appointment only. Please call to determine if our schedules are compatible.

Where are you located?

  • KCMC is located on the 3rd floor at 305 Ebenezer Road, Knoxville, Tennessee 37923.

Do you offer teletherapy?

  • I currently offer teletherapy for clients located in the state of Tennessee. While in-person sessions are recommended, I realize that there's a convenience to video and audio sessions. Let me know if this is something you are interested in and we can discuss if this will be the best fit for you.
